Road to Financial Freedom: Here's Why I Started Now

Money troubles keep me in perpetual discontent. Ever since I started working, I've been living paycheck to paycheck. Money is never enough. To have financial freedom is what I want to work on NOW.

Before you start reading this, I just want you to know I'm in debt. I know what it feels not being able to buy what I want, when I want because I have to prioritize paying off my debts.

To me, a financial freedom simply means being able to do what I really want in life. I know for a fact that I won't be working actively until retirement. Aside from that, I am also responsible for some expenses for my family; and that's already an obstacle to my goal. This is just a start though. Who says that the road to financial freedom is just a short trip?

Nonetheless, I need to start building my financial freedom now.

The first thing to do to achieve this is to be debt-free. As I have mentioned, I'm in debt. I already created my financial plan for the first half of 2017. Of course, I prioritized my debts! Thankfully, I'll be debt-free by then. You're probably curious now how much my debt is!

I chose to start building my financial freedom now because I'm still young. Regaining control of my finances at an early age is simple. Saving for retirement - or early retirement - could be the term, but I didn't want to think that way. I like how I could explore on how I want to take control of my financial life without really affecting anything or anyone.

Whenever I plan what to do with my future, I always tell myself that someday I'm going to work not because I have to, but because I want to.

In addition to that, I want to be able to travel on a whim without financial constraint. The seat sales are so tempting; I wouldn't have a problem buying tickets here and there, but the problem is the cost of the trip!

The only thing that I want to depend on in the future is my passive incomes. These passive incomes will eventually let me live sufficiently without working actively for my necessities. As people always say, never underestimate the power of compound interest! Financial freedom requires years of investing and saving, if you can start your journey to financial freedom, why not start now?

I already started investing in mutual funds and purchased life insurance. With as little as Php1,000, I can buy shares! I'm so excited to share with you my journey to financial freedom, but for now I'll cross out #8 in my 25 Things I Want To Do Before I Turn 25 list. Yay!

Are you actively pursuing financial freedom?
